ABSENCES
When your child is absent, she or he is responsible for making up the work missed. Students will have a "While You Were Gone” folder on their desk containing all assignments from the day’s absence.
BIRTHDAYS
Students are welcome to bring a snack to share with the class to celebrate their birthday. As per the district’s wellness policy, we ask that you try to make snacks that are healthy choices. I do ask that you try to send either precut or individually packaged treats. Snacks will be shared during our lunch
breaks period to avoid disrupting any instructional time.
BOOK ORDERS
Book orders will be sent home approximately once each month. You are not required to purchase any books, but it is an excellent opportunity to buy books that are at your child’s reading level and are reasonably priced. If you do choose to purchase, fill out the order form with the book(s) of your choice
and make checks out to Scholastics. If it is possible please put check and order form in an envelope with your child’s name on it. This will help me keep everything straight.
CAUGHT BEING GREEN
Following school and classroom rules and doing the right thing, students may be “caught” being green.
In addition to verbal praise, each time the class or an individual student is recognized we will place a
gold coin in the treasure chest. When the treasure chest is full, students will be rewarded with a small celebration (extra computer time/popcorn party/games/etc...).
CLASSROOM VISITS
Please feel free to come visit us in the classroom. You are an important part of your child’s education
and we welcome you to share our second grade journey with us. Several times during the year, we will
send out invitations to special events and we hope you will be able to attend. Students love to have
family members join them for Hot Lunch. We look forward to seeing you.
HOMEWORK
Students will be assigned homework. Please check the agenda nightly to make sure all assignments are
completed.
1) Students will be expected to read 20 minutes every night. They are to write down the time and have their parents initial beside it.
2) Any assignment which was not completed during the school day (lanuage or math assignments, etc.) will need to be completed as well as the regular assigned homework.
